Mr. Ron Lobb at steam trainer

A little less than one week has passed since the RSES/EKA seminar hosted by the Twin Rose chapter in York, Pa. I'm still digesting the wealth of information that was presented at the two days that I was able to invest in their program.

First, many thanks to the Twin Rose chapter for hosting this event. The planning and hard work that went into this event were very evident in quality and quantity of seminars offered.

It was nice to see Nelson Long and Kevin and Shawn Wasieleski at the seminars. Of course, it's always a pleasure to spend time with our local chapter president, Mr. Ron Lobb.

The sporlan seminar that was offered on TXV's was just outstanding and you couldn't ask for a more informative seminar on brazing and torch safety which the York Technical Institute hosted. There was also some new technology about heat pumps which I think that we are going to see more of in the near future. I also thoroughly enjoyed the steam seminar, even though the speaker was not able to demonstrate with the live boiler due to some technical difficulties. Not a problem, because his presentation was outstanding!

If your reading this and are even a little jealous -good, because this event really lived up the the whole purpose of the RSES which is to further the education and knowledge of the HVAC professional. I'm planning on attending next year's seminar which will be held in New York state and don't be surprised if we try to bring to this area in a couple of years.

In addition to the wealth of information, it's great to meet and talk to members from other chapters. I learn as much or more from hearing these seasoned professionals talk and debate topics as I would from any class or book. You just can't beat the experience quotient.

What's incredible to me is that Twin Rose was able and willing to offer all these seminars for only $15.00. Yes, that's right! Oh sure, I bought a few meals and split the cost of a hotel room with Ron, but where can you go and get this kind of education for that kind of a price.

All that said, don't forget our monthly meeting on April 26 at 6PM. This month we will be meeting at CIT. I'll have another article and newsletter with the topic and directions. Make plans to be there, because we'll be discussing the upcoming safety seminar at CIT as well as hearing about a safety related topic. SEE YOU ALL THERE. More to follow.

Montlhy Meeting Location Change ......again

Well I can't say I'm really surprised, but our location for the monthly meeting has been changed from Moravian College to Meier Supply in Allentown. I'm beginning to think that we are going to have to look for a new home for our meetings as the "doghouse" is being used more and more for student events. It would really be nice if we could use a classroom or meeting room at an area trade school. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

I hope you all can take time from your busy schedules to attend the monthly meeting. In addition to our educational program, we will also be accepting nominations for officers positions. If you are interested in serving as an officer of the local chapter, show up at the meeting and I'm sure someone will nominate you.

This is also the week for the Twin Rose EKA seminar. I just got an e-mail from Wm. Parlapiano, our Region 2 director, encouraging as many people to attend as possible. He says the registration is light so there's plenty of room for all of us. I plan on attending on Fri/Sat. and am really looking forward to the educational sessions.
Hope to see you all at our meeting!
