April Meeting held at CIT

Mr. Kevin Wasielewski CM from CIT makes presentation.

The April meeting of LVRSES was held at Career Institute of Technology(CIT) in Forks twsp. For those of us that were able to make the meeting we were treated to the CIT version of refreshments which included soup, sandwiches, potato salad, ice tea and coffee followed by apple pie. They really went the extra mile to make all of us feel at home and we thank CIT and their staff for the hospitality that was shown to us. We also appreciate to two door prizes that were given out.

Our own Kevin Wasielewski CM made an excellent presentation on safety topics of concern in the HVAC industry. Kevin is an instructor at CIT as well as the owner of Apollo Metal. He is very interested in using RSES training materials as the curriculum for instruction. He also discussed a safety fair that CIT is planning for May 15-17 at CIT. This is the initial year for the fair and it may become an annual event. I think this is a great idea and a good opportunity for our chapter to become involved in a service for a wider audience. Stay posted for details.

Also, thanks to Kevin for providing the RSES banner that we can use at RSES events.

Mr. Terry Brady from the Harrisburg chapter made to long trip across Rt.22 during rush hour to participate in the meeting as a presenter on the Empire Keystone Association within region 2.

The way I understood it was that every region of RSES has (or should have) an association within that region whose purpose is to give opportunities for all the local chapters to assemble for training -like the recent EKA seminar in York. It also exists so that local chapters can send a delegate to the quarterly EKA meeting to voice concerns and receive input about ways to make the chapter more effective. Anyway, we voted in the business meeting to join the EKA and begin participation in their activities. I'm looking forward to a closer association with other chapters in our region.

We are still in the planning stages for the May meeting which will be held on Thursday May 24 at 6PM. The meeting will be held at the Johnstone Distribution center in Breiningsville(sp) just west of Allentown. I know the if you travel 22/78 to route 100 S to Shantz Rd. that it is located in the first industrial park off of Shantz Rd. Check back later for more details as well as the newsletter which will have more specific directions. This will be the last meeting before our summer break so make an effort to be there.

Our chapter now has a another proctor that is recognized by the International RSES for EPA and R-410A certification. We are going to try a R-410A certification in the near future. Give me some feedback on interest.
