We would like to thank Mr Harold Myers of H.E. Myers and Associates, Inc. for taking the time to come to our meeting and share some of his expertise on the subject of calculating refrigeration loads and proper equipment selection. Before the meeting Mr. Myers told me that he had been on the road all week. I'm sure he would have liked to be on his way home, but he was willing to come to our meeting none the less. I have to confess that I was embarrassed by the poor turnout, but he was unfazed and cheerfully conducted the instructional time and even stayed for the tour of the Distribution Center.
We also appreciate Johnstone Supply Distribution Center for opening up their training facility for our use as well as conducting a tour of their center. It's was awesome in every sense of the word!
It's now time for our summer break, so there won't be any chapter meetings during June, July or August. The next big thing that we are looking at is the successful completion of year two and final exam for those participating in the self study course.Looking back over the past year, I do believe that we have had some really good opportunities for training and education at the chapter level. The highlights of the year for me, in addition to the monthly meetings, were attending the international convention in Atlanta(only one day for me) in October and attending the EKA convention in York, Pa in April.
Over the summer months the chapter officers will be meeting to develop a schedule for the upcoming year. We may even try to poll the members to see how we can better serve and accommodate your interests.
To my way of thinking the one thing that is sorely needed is better participation at our monthly meetings. I know that everyone has a lot to do and we are all squeezed for time. Why not take some time and invest it in yourself to improve your skills and knowledge? If you think you don't have anything to learn or contribute you are dead wrong. If your wife or girlfriend is jealous that you are out, bring her along. If your kids are busy with sports then come late or leave early. The monthly meeting is not the most important thing in life, but for a member who truly wants to continue to learn and improve it really needs to be one of our priorities. Even if you learn one new thing or meet one new person at the monthly meeting it's a success for you and our chapter.
I'll post from time to time over the next few months. I hope you all have a healthy and productive summer and look forward to seeing you in the fall.
