AHR expo set for January 22,23,24 2008 in NYC

Just a note to all members of the Lehigh Valley RSES chapter. CIT(Career Institute of Technology) http://www.citvt.com/ has a shuttle going to the AHR expo on Wed. Jan. 23, 2008 for a cost of $40 round trip. For more information and to sign up call 610-258-2857 and ask for Jackie. This shuttle will take you right to the convention center and return you to CIT at the end of the day. Of course, you can drive into the city at your own peril, but I'm planning to take advantage of CIT transportation for Wed. and catch a Beiber bus to the Port Authority on Tuesday. It's a short walk to the convention center from the Port Authority. To register for the convention follow the link http://www.ahrexpo.com/ and register free of charge. They will send the information and entry pass right to your home address, so it couldn't be easier. I think that sometime during the week there will be some EKA meetings but I'm not really sure. Any help with that one?
Our monthly meeting will still be held on Thursday January 24, 2008 at the ABC training center http://www.abceastpa.org/ in Allentown at the normal time of 6-8PM. I'll have more to post about that at a later date, but the tentative schedule of refrigeration trainer has been changed and the topic will be water treatment

Field Controls Seminar held at CIT

Mr. Tim Begoske of Field Controls

For those who were able to attend, the Field Controls Seminar http://www.fieldcontrols.com/ offered at CIT(Career Institute of Technology) was an outstanding evening of education.

The seminar was hosted by CIT and organized by Mr. Kevin Wasielewski CM who is an adult HVAC instructor at CIT http://www.citvt.com/.

Mr. Tim Begoske, the national sales manager, from Field Controls was the presenter. He did a very capable job in the areas of Draft, Combustion and Ventilation controls. Even though his title involves sales, his focus was on explaining the theory and code requirements for each of these controls. I went home with a lot of literature which also reinforced the concepts that he was presenting.

The last hour long seminar of the evening focused on UV technology that addresses Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). I learned a lot of the why's of UV technology. Mr. Begoske didn't try to make UV technology "magical", but rather presented it in a comprehensive manner that includes UV as one of many things we can do to improve IAQ.

Many thanks to those who took the time to put together this excellent seminar. I would also like the thank Johnstone Supply http://www.johnstonesupply.com/ for providing the refreshments. They were much appreciated for those of us who came directly from work to the seminar.

Ron Lobb and Ken Taylor enjoy some refreshments.

Note that there will be no December meeting. We wish you and your families a joyous Holiday season and look forward to seeing you all at the January, 2008 meeting. Thursday, January 24 at 6PM at the ABC training center in Allentown. We are planning to use their refrigeration trainer to do some instruction. If you have any refrigeration questions or problems come out to the meeting and we will try to use the trainer to learn a little bit more about our industry. Learning, improving, education, training, never stops. If you stop you are going to get run over by those who take the time to invest in themselves and their future. Make it your commitment for 2008 to be on the front edge of training. You won't be sorry.

Also, in January during that same week there is an opportunity to attend the AHR expo in NYC http://www.ahrexpo.com/. This is probably the largest HVAC expo in the world and this year it's practically in our back yard. I'm already registered and plan to attend at least two days of the expo. I'm going to try to post more info later on about it. But if you log onto the web site listed above that will give you more than enough information about the three day seminar. It's free to attend and register. It will cost you some transportation. I'm going to take a bus to the Port Authority and either walk or catch a subway to the Javits Convention center and then come back home for the night.
